Wilhelmsen Ship Management Norway - Summer internship description
We are looking for one student to assist for 2 months during the summer of 2018. The candidate should currently be attending a master of science program, and should preferably be quite far into the program.
The internship student will work as an integrated part of Wilhelmsen Ship Management’s performance and energy management segment, and the tasks assigned will be directly related to the development of performance monitoring applications.
Specifically, the student will be involved in developing a detailed and accurate fuel consumption monitoring application for one of our customers. The objective for the application is to more accurately measure operational performance as well as being able to better predict future consumption.
We have access to vast amounts of detailed data, both historic and real-time, and the student will be responsible for structuring, processing and analyzing the data in order to develop the applications. The work will be carried out in close cooperation with the Performance manager and the fleet operation team.
We are looking for a candidate with an analytical mindset who is interested in exploring data to see correlations and benefits related to the operation of ships. The student need to be structured and have excellent skills in excel and/or other basic data processing tools. Experience with/ background in programming and some knowledge of data mining and data science processes is a big advantage.
The candidate needs to be self-driven and have the ability to work well independently as well as in teams, and have good command of written and oral English.
Dates and duration: Start in June, preferably 4 June although later date can be accepted. Duration 4 – 6 weeks, to be agreed.
